The Steam Spring Cleaning Event may just be what you need!
From May 24th to May 28th, Steam have a ‘Spring Cleaning’ event which will hopefully help you look through all of your games and play the ones you either haven’t before, or you’ve spent around 5 minutes on before turning it off.
During the event you can complete tasks to earn collectibles, badges and emoticons for your Steam chat. Alongside the tasks, Steam have provided 7 free games for you to play during this time – all included in the tasks to perform too.
There are 3 tasks which run over 4 days. These will award you with badges.
- Several games are available to play for free during the whole event! We’ve picked a couple for you to try today.
- Can’t decide what to play? Let us help you out! We’ll pick some random games in your library that you can play to upgrade your badge.
- Own a game that you haven’t even played yet? Give it a try and increase your badge’s level.
- Play a game you’ve played more than 2 hours of, but haven’t played in a while.
- Play a game you purchased within the last 6 months.
- Play a game recommended by a friend.
- Play the first game you added to your Steam account. If you completed this task last year, play the second game on your Steam account.
- Play a game that uses a tag you’ve applied to another Steam game.
The only downfall to this event is the fact you don’t actually have to play the games. Once you have opened the game and Steam has picked it up as you are playing the game, the badges will be awarded to you and the task will be complete. If you do however find a game you haven’t played for a while, it might just encourage you to play it more and earn more badges and cards.
The event ends May 28th – 10am PDT (6:00pm BST/UK).
